Shri Amitabh Saxena an alumnus of Govt. Engineering College Jabalpur, graduated in Electrical Engineering from University of Jabalpur. He also did M. A. (Regulatory Studies) from Teri School of Advance Studies, New Delhi. This programme (of TERI), has later been renamed as MBA (Infrastructure).
He is having seasoned, result oriented progressive professional experience of 36+ years in the Power Sector with focus on Project Execution; O&M; Commercial & Regulatory affairs; Power Trading; Business Development; and Renewable Energy earned during his service tenure with Madhya Pradesh Electricity Board (MPEB) and with NTPC Ltd.
As part of NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam Ltd (NVVN) team, he was actively involved with the officials of Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) and Ministry of Power (MoP), Govt of India during evolving of National Solar Mission (NSM) document, as well as, during framing-up of the Guidelines (both under the Migration and the New Project Schemes) for Selection of Solar Power Developers for Setting-up of Grid-interactive Solar Power Projects under NSM Phase-I.
As part of Indian delegation (Policy maker Groups) he went to Spain for understanding Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) technologies and to gain experience in the vital sector crucial for National Solar Mission under Energy Sector Management Assistance Programme (ESMAP) in collaboration with the World Bank.
As Member (Renewable Energy) of the Joint Technical Team-Generation (JTT-G) between India and Bangladesh for Cooperation in Power Sector, he represented the country during 18th meeting of Indo- Bangladesh JSG/ JWG held at Udaipur.
He attended both technical and management skill development programme at Engineering Staff College, Hyderabad; Management Development Institute (MDI), Gurugram; and at Indian School of Business (ISB), Hyderabad.
His hobbies include singing and playing musical instruments. Health & fitness; reading; listening to music; and watching (old & classical) movies are some of his interests.
